Friday – Sunday, 12 – 14 May 2023 – Friends’ Festival Weekend
The Programme for the weekend is:
Friday 12 May 12.30 p.m: The Annual Lunch
Following a successful and enjoyable event last year, we return to The Maltsters, Cardiff Road, Llandaff for this year’s annual lunch. This is a great opportunity for the Friends to meet each other whilst enjoying a convivial meal. There will be a two course menu followed by coffee or tea. Tickets must be booked, the menu chosen, and payment made in advance.
Full details of the menu and a booking form can be found above.
Saturday 13 May in the afternoon.
3.00 p.m. Annual General Meeting in the Nave.
The AGM will be followed without a break at approx. 3.30 p.m. by the Annual Lecture
The Lecture has the title of “A Life in Crime”, and will be given by Gerard Elias CBE, KC. Before retiring, Mr Elias was one of Wales’s top barristers, and was involved in the conduct of a number of well-publicised trials and public enquiries. He is now Deputy Head of the Cathedral Chapter.
Approx. 4.30 p.m. Light Refreshments
These will be available in the Prebendal House.
5.30 p.m. Festival Choral Evensong;
This will be celebrated using the combined Boys’ and Girl’ Choirs. During it, presentations will be made to the two Friends’ Scholars (one boy, one girl). It is hoped that members will make every effort to attend the service, which is a fitting conclusion to the day.
Sunday 14th May
11.00 a.m Festival Eucharist;
Join in thanking God for the worship and work of the Cathedral and for the role of the Friends in supporting this.
